I always wondered what the vines were that climbed up trees in a forest and after capturing these ones I finally took the time to find out. A liana is a long-stemmed, woody vine that is rooted in the soil at ground level and uses trees, to climb up to the canopy in search of direct sunlight. I find they are just incredible how they look like they are strangling the tree as they grow but they just need the support to reach the light.
Mossman Gorge is just a beautiful part of the world. It is situated on the edge of the Daintree Rainforest and is near the end of the long journey of the Mossman River that winds its way through the rainforest. The day I went here it was super hot (about 35c) and there were so many people swimming in the river to cool off. I went for a hike through the forest and although I lost most of my body weight in sweat it was such an experience and I fell in love with the beauty of the forest.
